Sep 28 Chapter 3 Documents

Germania, First Century C.E.   This time in Germany was interesting in many ways. In no particular order the thought of no mixed race.  The family lines are honored and somewhat easy to follow the family tree. The generals of the armies served because of their works not just appointed. The way they treated their women were extreme.  For the most part the ladies were holy and had a vision to see the future. Infidelity was so rare that if it was ever discovered the punishment was not limited to a shaved head, stripped naked and mocked in the city street. Now when it came to children it was pretty warped to kill any offspring that was not ideally a role model.

Sep 26 The Classical Era in Eurasia

The Persian Empire was a pretty large army that ranged from 35-50 million people. They conquered land from Egypt to India.  The Persian god Ahura Mazda was powerful and was on a killing rampage. The Persians were also greedy. If there were any luxuries they would just take them an make it their own. This might seem horrible but there is some good that comes out of this.  Over the next 1000 years an infrastructure was formed such as record keeping, court life, tax collecting, roads and trade between each province. The Greeks are small in numbers compare to the Persians at the time between 500-5000 male citizens and have a different view on life. The idea of "citizenship" that the free people had a choose in the policies/laws in the community. In early Greek time only the wealthy had rights in voting, speaking public office, ect. Slowing more and more less eduated, farmers, ect had rights. In the 8th century Rome was a small and impoverished city..  The political system...

Sep 21 Chapter 2

Page 95. "What does Source 2.3 suggest about views of women, images of female beauty and attitudes about sexuality and the body?"  In the Indus Valley around 2500 B.C.E. The statue is about four inches tall. It was a difficult for the artist to make it proportionate and accurate. Yet it could be possible that the artist was so talented that it was make exactly the way he or she wanted it to be. So to answer the question about beauty she was in a dancer's pose, wearing bangles on her left arm as accessories along with a necklace.  Her hair was also styled in a bun. Her attitude about sexuality and body are similar . The figure shows extra long arms and legs and who does find long legs to be sexy? American archeologist Gregory Possehl commented "We may not be certain that she was a dancer, but she was good at what she did and she knew it."  In my opinion a young female that is nude has an amazing confident and strong self-esteem.

First Civilization . There are so many things that were created that shaped the first civilization. People who were fisherman found great value in anchovies, sardines and other fish along the coast. They would trade for other goods like cotton, squash, beans and other products that were grown by the farmers.   Sounds like a win win situation. There were also so many other way to survive , thrive, prosper, make a living, such as steel workers to make the tools to farm, carpenters to make build the houses and barns, doctors to help the sick and the list goes on. As families grow sometimes their assets did as well such as owning more land, cattle, houses, ect, basically more stuff. This created the hierarchies of classes. It became so extreme that it started the erosion of equality. People actually owned people as slaves, it didn't matter the color of your skin. What matter was the rich had the power. There was even the famous code of Hammurabi depended on social status. "A free...

Evidence Document I.I A Paleolithic Woman in the Twentieth Century In 1971 Marjorie Shostakovich the anthropologist meet a "bush lady" on the border of Botswana and South Africa in the Kalahari desert. She name was Nisa and was about 50 years old.  What I found interesting is that she lived a life that is interesting in many ways. As a child she played like a child and big sister. She would carry her new born little brother on her shoulders to play. Some parents would think this would be a bit dangerous and not a good idea. An instinct of a crying baby might be that he was hungry and Nisa as a child brought him to their mother to nurse. Awesome baby sitter in my opinion. As they grew older they played often.  Some parents might consider some of it to be rough and dangerous in the wild bush which formed a strong family bond. They would gather food like berries and beans together and sometimes help father with the animal traps. Their father would often be out hunting and ret...

Chapter 1 - First Farmer Humans were giving the guidance to subdue the earth.  In time some decided to explore, wonder and claim new land for ourselves. I like to wonder and discover new stuff.  It started off in the area of what we know as Africa and went to the Middle East.  Many years later we did pretty much cover the entire earth which was livable. Place like Antarctica have land but why too much cold to survive. Along the travel we found and learned so many things such as new plants to eat and animals to hunt. This brings us to the first human societies which were in the range of 25-50 people. We probably discovered that we are strong and more efficient working as a team than solo.  At the time men and women were equal. The men did most of the hunting and fishing while the women did most of the food gathering. By the numbers the food gather consist of about 70% and the meat was about 30%.  You would think by these numbes the women provided most of the fo...
