Chapter 23 Capitalism and Culture

Some might think capitalism is a bad thing but I feel it is about being smart.  Making money is a part of life as we know it.  Since as far as we can remember people traded things for things.  There has been a saying that "cash is king". I feel that it is still true from small to large items.  The next time you buy a car and the MSRP aka sticker price is $62,500, make the offer for $58,000 and have it all in cash. The supply and demand has power in both ways. In today's world, we are shopping globally all the time.  The Internet has connected the world of shopping. Just 50 years before the internet, companies where trading all over the world making money.  Even though there is the slight challenge of different currencies, the tool of credit cards let everyone get a piece of the win,win of trading internationally. The countries with deep pockets like the United States, Canada, Brazil, China, Japan, Australia and Western Europe do most of the inventing in fo...

Chapter 22 The End of Empire

So many countries wanted their independence from the European empires. In the 1940s the Philippines, India, Pakistan, Burma, Indonesia, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Israel gained their independence.  By the 1970 many other countries in the south did the same thing. India was unique because the British colonial never assimilated into the Indian society because of their cultural distinctiveness.

Chapter 21 Cold War. Communism in Russia and China

I always wondered why so many countries are communism.  I have learned that it works fairly well in most countries like Russia and China. The thought of living without private property works for almost 1/3 of the world. There is social equality and collective living. This chapter includes other countries like Vietnam and Cambodia.  After WWII communist parties played a role in Greece, France and Italy. All of the revolutions had a lot in common.  French, Russia and China had the same idea to get updated in the time.  They all wanted to modernize they country with better infrastructure to better the people. Karl Marx has a few comments about communism, they it would be more successful in countries that are more establish , developed and social equality.  This did not quite hold true to Russia and China. Many parts of both countries when very under developed and not equally social.

Chapter 21, Communism in Russia and China

When I think of communism I think of when we leadership and not very American.   As we read history it actually works for some countries such as Russia and China.  Sure it's hard to please everybody but for the most part the people on the boat countries work well with that type of leadership. March 29, 20th century crisis of Europe, website reading

Fascism and the holocaust was harsh stuff in Germany.  Hitler took the role as leader and a hard one. It was not good to be Jewish at the time. Even if you were part Jewish,  you were penalized as being in this race and defaulted as Jewish. Hitler's Plan was to wipe out the Jewish people and people that were "different " such and the mentally challenged/ill, LGBT, handicapped, ect.
